Temple 46-51
April 25, 2023The forecast for today was rain, rain and more rain. So, after having a late breakfast at the hotel (7 AM), we had no choice other than start our walk at 7:40 under a light drizzle. It was probably the coldest morning since we started our pilgrimage (7Β°) and we knew that it would be a long day (6 temples over 32 km).
On days like this, my strategy is to always think βwell, it could be worseβ. It was raining, but it was not pouring. It was cold, but not freezing. We had to walk 32km, but at least it was not 40. See? It could be worse!
We arrived at our hostel after 5 PM completely exhausted and besides visiting 6 temples (which is our record for number of temples visited in one single day), the other highlights of the day were: a beautiful mist over the forest π«οΈ; cute notes by children giving us the much appreciated support to keep going πͺ; Maike eating peanut butter from the jar like a true hiker should do; and an absolutely delicious probiotic vegan dinner here in Matsuyama (where we will be staying for two days).
