When you do a long pilgrimage like the Shikoku Henro, there are always difficult days: days where your feet hurt, days where the rain never stops and you get soaking wet, days where you can’t find good food and you feel bad for eating so much crap. There are days where your accommodation sucks, days where your intestines don’t work like they should, days where you get furious because you overpay for things that you regret. There are days where you think β€œwhy the hell am I doing this?”.

And then, to balance it out, there are days like today 🀩!

We woke up with a beautiful view from our window, watching the sun rising in the ocean and had a tasty breakfast prepared by our 78 years old host. The day was beautiful and sunny, but not too hot. We quickly found public toilets for the two or three times that either me or Maike needed to pee. We met David again along the way and had a very nice chat. We found a beach and went for a quick dip in the sea. We had the best coffee we had so far in Japan and received delicious cookies as osettai from the lovely coffee shop owner. We had a mouth-watering Okonomiyaki for dinner which was cooked right in front of us. And even though we hiked for more than 26km, we could barely feel any tiredness at the end of the day.

There are these days where you just cannot complain about life 🀍πŸ₯°
