The day started with a quick stop at the convenience store to buy food for the day, since we knew we would have a stretch of ~20km without shops today. Right after that we had a short hike to temple 36 and decided to take a shortcut to continue the day…

Let’s say that the shortcut was not so short and we had a little adventure: After a few minutes following a hike path into the woods, we found ourselves a little bit lost, in a not-so-well maintained trail. We had to climb a hill here, walk through some rough vegetation there, but after half an hour we were back on track, just to find out that the shortcut didn’t save us any time nor kilometers. As you can see in the pictures, Maike was not so pleased πŸ˜…

Overall we had a pleasant day, with lots of sunshine but not too hot. We hiked most of the day with Quinten and David, two very chill and kind guys that we ran into during our visit to temple 36. At the end of the day we found out that we were all staying at the same accommodation so we went for dinner together, which ended up being the best ramen we had in Japan so far: a traditional local ramen from Susaki (the city we are in right now) named Nabeyaki Ramen 🍜.
