Day 106

Mile 1980.2 to mile 1998.8

PCT Miles: 18.6 (29.8km)

Total Miles: 1998.8 (3198.1km)

Once more I put the rain fly over the tent “just because” and I was glad I did: in the morning all my stuff were full of condensation (sleeping quilt and backpack were the worse) and I was a bit cold. Breaking out camp is always less pleasant when everything you touch is cold and wet.

I had a resupply box waiting for me in 17 miles, at the Big Lake Youth Camp. I also had heard that they’re super hiker friendly, offering a free space for us to rest, shower, do laundry and even get meals! All donation-based.

I arrived at BLYC 1pm which was exactly lunch time! I had my fair share of cheese tostis with tomato soup 🥪🥫and after that I took care of my chores, including drying up my tent and sleeping quilt, still wet from last night. During my afternoon at BLYC, amongst new and familiar faces I saw Rocky (from days 54 and 72), DIY, Free Mile and Soybean. I also met a few other hikers that I hadn’t seen before.

I don’t know exactly how but all of a sudden it was 6:20pm already and that means dinner time! Tortilla chips which beans, cheese, lettuce and tomato 🌮🫘🧀🥬🍅. Delicious!

But the day wasn’t over yet: I didn’t want to stay. I wanted to avoid the risk of being vortexed (tomorrow they serve breakfast at 8:20am, which is too late but I’m sure I’ll wait for it if I stay here tonight). I gathered my last bits of energy and hiked two miles north and found a camping spot.

Fully loaded with snacks and supplies, my next big stop (if everything goes according to the plan, of course), is a all-you-can-eat lunch buffet at Timberline Lodge (google it!), 103 miles ahead. I’ll try to crush 30 miles a day for the next three days and arrive at Timberline Lodge in time for a one in a lifetime Sunday lunch!
